PETER JEFFS HOLISTIC
For several years, I’ve been actively working with Natural Equine’s Herbs, Essential Oils, Skin Creams, and Lotions. My initial connection with Natural Equine took place several years ago when I approached Maxine Stewart with my idea of creating a specific equine herbal test kit. With a background in Kinesiology, I felt a strong passion for working with horses, leading me to establish my equine holistic practice in Devizes, Wiltshire, back in 2016. While conventional nutritional thinking revolves around minerals and vitamins, I realized that horses perceive nutrition differently, primarily through herbs. These incredible plants have served as a guiding principle in my equine work. Natural Equine’s herbs play a central role in the services I provide.
Holistic Equine Treatments:
In my holistic equine sessions, I address a variety of issues. Whether working with your horse in person or remotely, I tune in energetically with your horse, employing muscle response testing to guide my approach. The key areas I focus on include:
Emotional Balance:
I assess and address emotional well-being during the session.
Bach Flowers and Essential Oils:
Using Essential Oils from the NE range, I also incorporate Bach Flowers
Energy Circuits and Balance:
I examine your horse’s energy circuits, day and night energies, and check cloacal balance.
Skin and itch:
I check for individual NE Creams and Lotions.
Nutrition:
I use my test kit featuring a complete selection of Natural Equine Herbs to assess and balance nutrition.
Meridian Balance:
My approach involves balancing the meridians based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Muscular Issues:
Special attention is given to muscular issues, particularly those related to the flexor and extensor chains.
Yard visits:
I conduct yard visits within a roughly 20-mile radius around Devizes (Wilts), covering areas such as Chippenham, Swindon, Marlborough, Melksham, and Trowbridge. For horses located further away, I offer remote sessions. Whether on-site or remote, clients receive detailed notes outlining suggestions for herbs and oils from the Natural Equine range. Additionally, information on relevant meridian work and massage points is provided. The effectiveness of remote sessions has been acknowledged by my local clients who alternate between on-site and remote treatments.
Mini-Check-Ins:
I have observed that horses often go through phases of intensive processing, whether gearing up for an event or navigating emotional challenges. In response to this, I’ve introduced what I call “mini-check-ins.” These brief sessions occur every second or third day and are specifically focused on assessing emotional balance over a period of weeks. During these check-ins, conducted remotely, I use Essential Oils, a variety of herbs, and Bach Flowers. From these remote sessions, I provide you with a series of notes detailing what your horse needs from a selection of oils, herbs, and essences. As your horse processes, the specific requirements for herbs, oils, and flowers may change. The frequency of these mini-check-ins every second or third day allows us to adapt quickly, providing support to your horse in real time as he or she navigates their emotions. This approach has proven to be highly effective, making a tangible difference in supporting horses on their emotional journey.
My Background:
I hold a Degree in Botany (First Class Hons.) from the University of Durham (1995) and earned a PhD from Cambridge, focusing on Evolution and Genetics. Following a decade in professional science, I made a career change to explore other skills. Following 20 years in France, I returned to the UK in 2012 and obtained my Diploma in Systematic Kinesiology in 2016 from the Bristol School of Advanced Kinesiology.
My journey to working with horses was inspired by regular visits the Quantocks Hills in Somerset. There, I spent considerable time observing the behaviour of the wild herd and their dietary habits. Following my Diploma in Kinesiology, I felt a calling to apply this knowledge to benefit horses. Opportunities then unfolded. Over three years, I was engaged in part-time groom work, concurrently building my practice. The herd of ten horses I cared for became invaluable teachers, guiding me in understanding what worked best for them. Their wisdom has been my inspiration and my motivation.
My practice is a testament to my deep affection for these incredible animals. Devoted to their well-being, my work is dedicated to the horses who have inspired and guided me. I am honored to be able to share a few words about my work here on the Natural Equine website. Using Natural Equine’s Herbs and Essential Oils – which form the core of my practice – I will be delighted to assist you in caring for your horses.
