ZOOPHARMACOGNOSY is a behaviour in which animals self-medicate by selecting their own natural medicines.

When an essential oil is inhaled it has direct access to the brain. This can have an immediate affect on the emotional state of the horse, helping the horse to calm, relax and re-focus.

Essential oils come into their own when a quick response is needed. They can help a horse to release emotion and become calmer, often within a few minutes of inhaling the aroma.
